This may seem like a strange title for a post and it calls for an explanation. I will try to give you that and of course I hope it will be a suitable one even though it's still may seem a little bit strange...
It all comes from the problem that most parents have: Finding nice clothes for your children. Now, being the father of two lovely daughters I certainly can relate to the problem. Not that it normally is hard to find nice clothings for the toddlers but when it comes to really nice things and actual toddler dresses for the youngest - we were going to a wedding so we really wanted her to look pretty - then it is quite a problem.
Nevertheless, no problems are so big that they cannot be solved as long as you have the internet. So I went cruising on the internet and I came by Little English which is a very nice web shop for childrens clothings and what do you know: A bit of browsing - a few clicks - and the following week we went to the wedding with the prettiest little girl you have ever seen.

What a strange title for a post! Søgemaskineoptimering. What in G..s name is that? Well, you all know it. It's SEO - search engine optimization. But spelled in Danish. And why is it that you want to write about that. That's a good question. There is a lot of money in it. Not writing about it but working with search engine optimzation and I find it extremely interesting. Most of us/you know all about how Google works. You search for something and then Google has web-crawlers scanning the internet for relevant web pages. These pages come up on the search page in order of relevance. Most of the time at least. Sometimes web pages have paid to be on the very top of the search page but you will know this because it says so.
Well, this arrangement is now made for shopping too. Not at Google but at ShopWiki. One of the problems up till now with web pages or directories for shopping has been that all the results were shops that had paid to be on the search result. This is not the case with ShopWiki.
So if you for instance are looking for girls fashion or just clothing for girls or women then it would be of interest to try ShopWiki. As I understand it - and this is why I really find the idea interesting - there is no money involved in the search results. When you type in a search word then you get a list of all the most relevant shops. It's not just the shops who have paid the most but really the shops with the highest relevance for your search.
That's in my oppinion a fantastic concept.

Well, I guess sport is a universal word and Odds is something most guys know about when it comes to sports and putting money on a game. The last word is derived from the fact that there is so many things women don't understand. For instance what the games is about and why it is more important than many other things in life. Is this cool or what? The idea of having a huge wikipedia about any product you ever might want to buy. Well I certainly think so. As I see it I have just too often searched for digital devices and other stuff I am interested in but most searches result in sites where the company behind the product has paid for the review or something like that. And then I will always have doubts about what they write about the product. Is it really as good as they write?
And in addition to this there is always the question about price. Are you getting the product at the best price? No, or that is - it is most likely that you will never find the best price because it will take hours to compare all the prices. But this new site shopwiki does it all for you.

So are you all ready for the summer? Beach ready? And I'm not only talkning about having the body tuned for showing off on the beach but also dressing the body. Funny thing is that most people think about bikinis and shorts when they dress for the beach but what about the feet. They need shoes and maybe blowfish shoes would be a good choice.
I just checked out the website for blowfish shoes and found it very interesting and then I got to think about the beach season and what a show it is. Going to the beach often seems like a total show off of bodies and fancy clothes. But not many shoes in this picture. Anyway, when you come to think about it you definately need to look good coming from the parking lot or going to get a beer or an ice cream. If not the show on the beach is not worth anything.
And then for instance you could get some inspiration or an idea by visiting the website of blowfish shoes. They have a very nice collection and a wide range of retailers. So I'll be looking down this season - down at peoples feet to check if Blowfish shoes are getting around.

Well, this post is going to be different from a lot of the ususal stuff I write about. Because suddenly I get the opportunity or the need to write about wine. Not just any wine but red wine. I'm not much of a white wine drinker even though a sip of cool white wine on a hot summerday is wonderful.
But I'm more of a red wine drinker. Red wine goes with almost any kind of food. It brings out the taste in a lot of dishes and even very spicy foods gains something if you drink a red wine with a strong taste and a heavy bouquet.
Now it may sound like I know a lot about wine but I actually don't . I know what I like and then I know a little bit about what kind of grape - Chardonnay or Merlot - I preferer. But that is about it. And to me that is the most important thing. You don't need to know all the smart or cool things to say about wine to know what you like.

Now this was not really something I ever thought I would get to write about but suddenly it was an issue of interest: commercial dishwasher! And why did it become an issue? Well, because a friend of mine was in charge of finding a new commercial dishwasher for his work as the old one broke down. If you write interesting stuff the chances of getting clicks are good and you start making a little bit of money. Cool. And you can play around with the features to get more readers. She is all over the place! That is just amazing - don't you think? Well, she is just a regular pop star who made some relatively main stream music, had a few hits and then got a child, got married and that sort of normal stuff. And still Britney Spears ranks at the top of all the rankings af search engines and rankings for blogs, keywords and stuff. At Wordtracker - that' s a service that tracks the most common keywords at the search engines - Britney Spears has been at the top for years now. In the past 48 hours just about 4000 times has someone entered the key words Britney Spears. And there just can't be that much interesting stuff to say about her.
Now, this post is another experiment with traffic and popularity. I want some of the popularity that Britney has. So I'm just writing a little bit about her and I mention her name a bunch of times and then I'll check my stats tonight and see if it had any effect. I know that my blog will be noted at Technorati for a short while and then maybe all those Britney-holics will click in on this blog and find out that she is popular in many ways...

Iphone, Saddam and Britney Spears

I've been looking at different strategies for a way to get more popular - that's what we all want, right? No, it's not like that - I just think that it would be more fullfilling if I knew that someone read what I had to say. Because these words are of course the most valuable words you will ever read.
Anyway, I signed up at Technorati to get statistics and other stuff on my blogs. And at Technorati there is a daily list of the most popular blogs and search words. So as an experiment I'm just gonna write a little bit about the some of the most popular words, just to see if that leads to more traffic on my own blog. For instance Iphone is very popular at the moment. No wonder. When the guys from Apple send something new on the street the world stands still - or at least Apples marketing department can almost make the world stand still in awe.
I guess Saddam could make the world stand still too. At least I think most of the Western World has gone into ecclipse because of Saddam and the result of his tyrannic rule in Iraq. I hope we are soon getting on with the whole thing and especially I hope Iraq will be on it's way towards peaceful times.
Britney Spears is another popular search word. I wonder why. She's been on top of all kinds of search list rankings for several years but it's not like anything new is going on. Well, yes she got out of a car and exposed something but come on... that's not new to the World.
What is cool, is that Britney Spears has managed to get her homepage on top of the search engines even though there at this moment (15th of January 2007) is nothing on her site. Just a frame saying the site is in the works. I guess there is a lot of sites linking there...

One thing I have learned in the past months where I have studied SEO is that links are one of the most important things about optimization of homepages. If you want to get to the top of Google you have to get a bunch of other internet sites to link to your page. This will tell the search engines that your page is relevant for the particular subject. But it's not just about links with the exact adress. You must use tagged links. That is you must find out what kind of search words you think are relevant for your page. If you are a linguist for instance and you are working with linguistics then you want to get to the top of all searches for the words linguist or linguistics. To do this your links should be Linguist and not the adress www.lingvisten.dk (ok, I admit it - I have a friend who are a linguist). Now the link is tagged and should tell the search engines that at this site you can find relevant information for the search "linguist".
Of course I using this platform to help all my friends get their homepages to the top of the search engines and I'm willing to help anybody else as long as their internet site is about the search words they claim it is about. In the near future I will set up an email-adress where you can all send me links and descriptions of your sites and then you will already have one external link to help you get moving on the Google Searches.

Well, I found out, that the original idea for this blog wasn't really what I wanted. That is - I found out I really didn't have an idea or a goal. To keep posting and writing for an audience that you don't know anything about is kind of hard. And the title for this blog is maybe more something that attracts the wrong people. The thing is that I am just experimenting with all kinds of stuff you can find on the internet. The internet is now a world for itself. It's a living organism where new things develope all the time. And it's not all good. It's like the old west. There is no laws so all kinds of people try to make a bunch of money on people like me for instance by getting me to sign up for an interesting newsletter and then it turns out that the newsletter isn't interesting and now my inbox is filling up with spam.
I hate that and that's why looked at the title "Make more money, now!" and said to myself: I want to find out if it is possible or if it is all scams. Up till now I have posted about some free tv on the internet. That was not about making money but more about saving money. But let me repeat: There are also a lot of people trying to get you to pay for tv on the internet. DON'T DO IT!!!! You can get it for free.
So the main point of this post is that I will now turn my attention to substance. I want to get more substance into this blog. Write about things that other people will find interesting. Like how to beat those guys who get to the top of Google Search results with the search words that are more relevant to your pages. And then their pages are just a money-milking-machine. I am so tired of searching for things and then I have to look through ten pages with ads before I find a page with some substance.

But for one thing the autosurfing is a slide show where your sites are shown for a few seconds and then a new one comes up. And then the question is if the visitor will stop an look for a longer periode of time at the page. s Manual surfing is better because you have to click before a new page comes up and while you wait you tend to look at the page. This might catch the attention of some people but we are not very excited about it. But as said before, it is free so no harm in trying it.

We have briefly talked about traffic earlier on. How do you get people to read your pages and then click on your ads. Well, from our point of view the only real way is to put interessting stuff on your webpage. You need people to stay on the site for more than a minute. Then they will start looking at all the other stuff and not the text or information they came for.
So once again we will say that nothing comes free and without some effort. But why not take this opportunity and make a webpage of your biggest interests or hobbies. Probably there is hundreds of people out there who would like to hear valuable information about the exact thing you are expert on. So just get writing. The editing part is the easiest. You can find free webeditors all over the net. For instance NVU. This is a great tool for starting to build webpages. At first you just need one frontpage with some catching headlines. And then you can choose to put your ads anywhere. But be careful and work with the page. Make it look good. Select a set of colors that match. Don't use ten different colors or font styles. Make it simple or else people will think its crap.

So can you actually make money on advertising? Yes, that is no problem. You can get started right now and be on your way in ten minutes. Just log into blogger and start your own blog. Then in the layout section you can choose to put adsense/adwords on your blog. A link will take you to Google Adsense where you can start an account and then the ads will be on your blog instantly. Its as easy as that.
But can you make a lot of money? Well, this is where it gets tricky because you cannot click on the ads yourself so you must get other people to do so. Then you need traffic. How do you get that? Well, once again there is a bunch of webpages that offer traffic "free". For instance you can sign up to pages where they make a sort of slideshow of all the signed up pages. Then your page is hown for ten seconds every now and then. But do people click on your ads in that time? No. You need interesting content to catch peoples attention. This means hard work and dedication. But this doesn't go with the thought of quick cash without work. And that is what we all want, right?

You've probably seen it. The ads for the "make-money-by-reading-mails". So what is it and does it pay?
Well, basically it is not worth the while. The pay is just about nothing (you make about 10 cents a day) and you get tons of spam. Or you risk getting tons of spam, so if you want to try it out we would suggest that you get a new e-mail-adress - for instance a free Gmail - call it something like "testmail" and then use this for testing the offers. If your inbox is suddenly filled with spam then you can just close the e-mail again.
Anyway the procedure for getting your money out in cash is also often very slow and made to make you forget about it. So the conclusion is that we cannot recommend it.

Have you ever seen the ads for free tv on the internet? And then it turns out that you still have to pay 5 dollars just to find out how you can get a small program? And on top of that you get tons of spam-mail afterwards. Well, as always it is a very stupid idea to pay for stuff that is free and secondly it is very stupid to give your e-mail-adress to unknown people. They make money selling it to other people.
Anyway, you can actually see a lot of tv for free on the internet. On www.americafree.tv it is actually free. You can watch old movies and a bunch of other programs.

So what is this now? Can I make more money reading this stuff? Who are these people? Are they just trying to fool me and make money on me?
Well, we are just a bunch of people who have been asking the same questions. And form time to time we have been fooled our selves. And that is what this blog is about. We are just trying to help other people from getting tricked and fooled when they use the internet. And if it is possible we will evaluate some of the cheap offers and try to make them free.
Because a lot of the "almost" free offers you find on the internet can be found elsewhere for free. For instance free television. That is one of the first things we will look into. So come back from time to time and look at what we discovered.
